Okay... where do I even start?
Virat Kohli, the man, the myth, the fire himself — he's done with Test cricket.
Yeah. It's official. No more Virat in those crisp whites, no more yelling “Come on!” after taking a wicket or scoring a century. Just… gone. From Tests, at least.
Man, this is tough. Like really. Even though we still get to see him in IPL and ODIs, it still feels like something heavy just dropped. Test cricket was Kohli. Or maybe Kohli was Test cricket for our generation.
🕶️ From A Rookie to A Rockstar
2011 — he started. Against West Indies. I didn’t even notice him much that time. Just another young player, tbh.
But wow. What a ride it became.
From getting criticised for his technique to becoming the backbone of the team. Not gonna lie, I didn’t expect him to become this big in Tests. But he didn’t just prove people wrong — he made everyone respect him.
He was angry, aggressive, full of energy. Like someone had lit a fire in him every time he walked in.
Some Stats (yeah, I had to look them up 😅)
-
111 matches. That’s not small.
-
Over 8,800 runs... dude seriously loved red ball.
-
29 centuries. 🔥
-
That 254* vs South Africa? Beast mode.
-
Average? Around 49. That’s class.
-
And oh... 7 double centuries — most by an Indian captain. Crazy.
But honestly, it was never just about the numbers. It was how he made us feel when he played. The fights, the celebrations, the "I’m not gonna lose" face. That’s what stuck.
Captain Kohli – Not Just a Title
This guy, he didn’t just lead India — he dragged India forward in Tests.
Like... you remember that Australia series in 2018-19? We actually won a series in Australia for the first time ever. That was special.
And at home? Unbeaten. Like, zero series losses under him on home soil. That’s insane.
And the 2021 WTC Final — yeah we didn’t win, but still, reaching there under his leadership meant a lot.
He built a team that believed in fighting. Winning overseas. Not being scared.
His Goodbye Post...
So... What Now?
Well, he’s not gone-gone. He’s still playing ODIs. IPL is around.
Champions Trophy 2025? Can’t wait to see him there. Maybe a few more hundreds in blue.
But still... no more whites. No more Tests.
A Word to Virat (from just a fan, nothing fancy)
Hey champ.
Thanks.
Thanks for giving us something to cheer for on boring Mondays and lazy Sundays.
Thanks for shouting when you got a wicket. For fighting. For those bat drops. For showing what passion looks like.
You weren’t perfect. You were human. And that’s what made it beautiful.
Your Test cricket chapter’s over — but your legacy? Nah, that’s forever.
🕯️ Legends don’t retire. They live on in replays, in stories, and in our hearts.
Goodbye, Virat.
And yeah... Test cricket won't feel the same again.
omg
